McCOOK Neb. — Tonight’s agenda includes a mix of routine updates and a few policy items that reflect the city’s ongoing planning and maintenance work.
Council will hear from Grant Flaming with NPPD as part of the community energy report and will also receive an update on the youth sports complex project.
There is also a discussion item regarding a small section of East “A” Street. The request involves vacating the gravel portion of the road between East 9th Street and East “A” Street up to the paved section near East 10th Street. City staff note the area is lightly used and that vacating it would not affect access to nearby properties.
Council will also receive an update on the city’s progress toward a new Comprehensive Plan, along with revisions to zoning and subdivision regulations. Planning Commission members have been reviewing these changes throughout 2025, and the draft plan is moving closer to final review.
An ordinance is also up for consideration that would add a new chapter to the city code related to public spaces, including language about camping, restrooms, and park use.
On the consent agenda, council will consider adopting a resolution to levy special assessments to recover demolition costs tied to nuisance properties and will vote on authorizing the mayor to sign a second amendment to the city’s telecommunications lease agreement with New Cingular Wireless for equipment located on the West Water Tower.
The meeting is open to the public.
