Handyman Stamm Launches Holiday Giveaway to Help a Local Family in Need

McCOOK Neb.— Handyman Stamm, a locally owned and newly BBB-accredited business, is launching a special holiday giveaway this season—one free home installation, with all materials and labor included, for a local family in need.

The installation could be anything from a new furnace or water heater to plumbing repairs, flooring, HVAC work, accessibility upgrades, or other essential fixes that help keep a home safe and functioning. Cosmetic-only projects won’t be included, but the family receiving help will be determined based on genuine need, feasibility, and what can be completed during the three-day installation window scheduled for December 22–24.

Nominations are open now through November 25, and the selected family will be notified by December 3.

Heather and Conner Stamm—owners of Handyman Stamm—say the goal is simple: to use the skills they’ve built over the years to give back. After moving to McCook in 2021, the couple quickly recognized the community’s need for reliable handyman services. Conner, a Marine Corps veteran and longtime HVAC technician, had spent years in maintenance and property management roles before the couple launched their business full-time this past May. Since then, their schedule has stayed full, and the demand for help with both big and small home repairs has grown steadily.

One thing that makes their business unique is its range. While people often call them for HVAC work—Conner’s strongest specialty—he also takes on plumbing repairs, small-scale drywall needs, flooring, light carpentry, and general household fixes. Heather handles operations, scheduling, invoicing, and the daily flow of the business while also working full-time as an executive assistant at First Central Bank. As she puts it, she does the “fun stuff,” and Connor handles the hands-on work.

The giveaway itself grew out of their desire to serve families who may be facing overwhelming repair needs—situations where a small problem has grown into something unmanageable, or where safety issues simply can’t wait. In addition to supporting the project, K-Lawn has stepped up as a sponsor for this first year.

If participation goes well, the Stamms hope to expand the effort in future seasons by partnering with more sponsors and reserving multiple weeks for holiday installations.

About the Family Behind the Business

Heather and Conner met young, built a life together early, and learned much of what they know by remodeling their first fixer-upper home. Today, they have two boys—Asher and Sterling—and love the slower pace of raising their family in McCook after years in Lincoln. They enjoy family time, board games, spending time outdoors, cooking, and community life. Connor’s Marine Corps background and love of history still show up in his hobbies, and his favorite part of the job remains the conversations he shares with customers.

The business recently earned BBB Accreditation as of August 2025—an accomplishment the couple is proud of as they continue growing their reputation in southwest Nebraska.

Anyone may submit a nomination.

Families must own and live in the home, and live within roughly 30–40 minutes of McCook.
